June Update from PEI
Sitting at home on this beautiful June day, thinking back on the amazing UK tour with Lucy Farrell last month.
There is something about touring as a duo that really works for me, and a shift lately to touring more with women has been really interesting. To generalize, we just make different choices. More spa days, less fried food, a lot of talking about motherhood and life in our 40s.
On our very long drives up and down the UK roads, Lucy and I listened to a few audio books (3 Slow Horses books + Glennon Doyle's Untamed. Interesting combo I know... )
And now, we are both back in PEI, soaking up a second dose of lilacs and other spring flowers.
I have to say that touring the UK in May is possibly the nicest time of year for weather and beauty. I hope to be back there again once the new record is out.
In the meantime! Lucy and I have made a little EP that is only available on CD at our shows. Now that the tour is over, we only have a couple shows left where you can obtain this little gem, and that is at our PEI Small Halls shows. Yes, the Festival of Small Halls is finally here!
This is a gem of a festival that takes you across the Island to hear magical concerts in small venues in small towns and villages. I'm playing three times, two of those with Lucy:
June 18: O'Leary United Church - with Lucy Farrell and The Pairs
June 20: Charlottetown - Zion Presbyterian Church - Songwriter's Circle with Clerel, Georgia Harmer, Shane Pendergast, featuring Atlantic String Machine
June 21: Milton Community Hall - with Lucy Farrell, Joe H Henry
And about the record: I'm still in the process of recording and it's turning into something I could never have imagined. For those of you who know and love Kim Dunn, he has become my secret weapon. What a beautiful and creative piano/organ player. I hope to be able to give a timeline soon, but I don't want to rush it. After all this time making it, I may as well try to get it right with the next steps.
I'm going to make another post soon about the summer season as I have a lot of sweet things happening, but for now the festivals you can find me at are:
June: Festival of Small Halls
July: Road to Stanfest
August: Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival
Summerfolk (Owen Sound, Ontario)
September: Under the Spire Festival
Hope to see you somewhere!
Thank you as always for your support,
xoxo
Catherine

When I got home from tour, a sweet package arrived for me. It was Suzie Ungerleider's new album "Among the Evergreens" It is such a beautiful record. Check it out here.
