January is passing us by!

Well, Music PEI week is here, and with it a busy time for everyone here on the island.
A lot of shows happening this week, and tonight I’ll be in Hunter River at the Harmony House as part of the songwriter’s circle. They’ll present the Songwriter of the Year award, I believe…. who will it be?

I won that award last year, so I’m part of the show as last year’s winner. Up this year is Meaghan Blanchard, Dennis Ellsworth, Devin Casario, Jeremy Gaudet and John Connolly. Tough competition!

I kind of think awards are ridiculous, but if i can take a broader scope I can say that it is great publicity for everyone and it allows us musicians to all be together in one place, which is a rare treat.

Friday, I’ll hang out at home while the snow falls and blows. Saturday I’ll be a part of the Gala Awards show at the Confed Centre. It’s nice to not actually be up for any awards. I didn’t have a record out this year, so I can avoid the speeches and embarrassment I feel if I win.

Next week, Chris and I are off to Boston to play at Club Passim. Spread the word if you can. We’ll be there opening two shows on Wednesday, 7pm and 10pm.
After that, to Fredericton NB on Saturday the 29th for Shivering Songs Festival and the Olympic Symphonium cd release.

Hope to see you along the road somewhere.
Thanks, as always, for your continued support.

  1. I have been keeping up to date in your travels Catherine..looks like life has been great to you keep up the great work you are awesome girl!

  2. Just learned about you from the Strawberry Music Festival website. I am a loyal attendee for 10 years (twice a year), and look forward each festival to new voices. Yours sounds great! I am particularly intrigued because my mothers family is from PEI. I went all the time in childhood. I love learning about the music that comes from that part of the world. I will be looking forward to you performing at our festival!

  3. It’s too bad the Boston show didn’t work out; I asked after the show and they informed me of the illness. 🙁 Of course, I did get to enjoy some nice music by Antje Duvekot (who I wasn’t familiar with before). 🙂 Hope to see you in Boston soon!
