Home from Australia, & Save the Date…

BY CATHERINE MACLELLAN ON OCTOBER 27, 2022

Hello friends!
I have just returned from an amazing trip to Australia and thought I’d send you all a note while I recover from the intense jet lag!
When I left PEI, Hurricane Fiona had just hit, we had no power or running water and I had to rebook my flight to Brisbane about a thousand times… but I made it! And though it was difficult to watch from afar all my family and community working through the aftermath of Fiona, I was and excited to start my journey through the outback of Queensland.
I was picked up at the Brisbane airport by my new bff, tour manager extraordinaire Monique. We drove straight to Woodford to play a show that night in celebration of the 30th tour for Festival of Small Halls (Australia). There I met my tour mate and incredible musician Karl S. Williams and our production manager Kevin. The four of us would spend the next month on the road together, going from small hall to small hall through the outback.
We found ourselves in some truly remote places, in halls that (more often than not) were underutilized and longing for music. We walked on country, learned about the history and culture of these places and made new friends and fans at every stop.
There is more than I can share here, but take a look at my instagram if you want to see a little bit more of my experience.

A few photos from my recent Festival of Small Halls tour.

It’s too early to talk Christmas shows, but tickets are already selling fast for some shows so I want to let you know now.
If you’ve been paying attention to me at all over the last few years, you likely know I LOVE HOLIDAY SHOWS! Last year I put out a little digital EP and played some lovely shows with lovely friends. And years before a bunch of us pals did the Mittentime shows.
This year I’ll be hitting the maritimes with pal and guitarist Nick Gauthier, and there will be further announcements about special guests for some shows.
I can’t wait to sing along with you and share some of my own songs about winter and Christmas and joy! We could all use a little joy these days…
hope you can join us!

Songs for a Small Planet
One last note before I go. I’ll be crossing the bridge with Teresa Doyle, Dennis Ellsworth and Todd MacLean for a little song circle in honour of the earth, this little rock floating through space. We’ll be hitting the stage in Pictou NS at the Pictou Legion, hosted by the DeCoste Centre.
Tickets can be found here.

Thanks for all your support…

As we musicians start to get back to work, we are finding new and increased challenges. But we still want to do this, bring music to you and share stories and connect. Everything is still a little wonky, but playing on stages and being again with you in person is life saving and heart filling.
Thanks for supporting live music in your communities!
Talk soon,
Catherine
